McDonald’s Franchisee Restaurants Provide Meals, Encouragement in Guatemala
As a business, we're committed to serve those who are on the frontlines fighting COVID-19. In Guatemala, we’re proud of the efforts our local franchised restaurants have made to step up and serve their communities.
Every day, for instance, hardworking restaurant crew are preparing and bringing breakfast, lunch and dinner to doctors and nurses at The Hospital of Villa Nueva, which has been selected by the Government of Guatemala to treat patients who have COVID-19. Restaurants are also donating meals to people building new, temporary hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.
Each meal includes an encouraging, inspirational message from a McDonald’s crew member.
“Over our 45 years in Mesoamerica, McDonald’s has always been present in the lives of Central Americans. That is why, at this time, we want to support those who have not been able to stay at home and instead are caring for their communities,” says Alvaro Cofiño, President of McDonald’s franchisee in Mesoamerica. “We are delighted to extend a helping hand and provide a delicious feel-good moment and personal uplifting messages from all our crew members to the healthcare professionals working at the front lines, demonstrating once again our commitment to our community and our true essence."
So far, McDonald’s Guatemala has donated more than 1,000 McMenus to doctors, nurses and the staff who are building new hospitals. During this unprecedented time, we’re all in this together.
